1912: "Vickers Machine Gun"

The Vickers machine gun was created in Kent and introduced in Britain in 1912. It was essentially an improved version of a Maxim machine gun. It was, mainly in World War II, until 1968. It uses a 250 round fabric-belt magazine and used water as a self-cooling mechanism, weighing about 50 pounds.

  1. I like how you talked about the self-coolant and ammo used-- it gave a nice background on the cannon. Applying the essential question to this would be interesting-- machine guns like this were probably used to kill individuals which lessened the disturbance on one's mind. Instead of cutting someone down with a sword, they just kill another person through a scope.
